Bournemouth AC

Bournemouth Athletic Club was formed in 1906 and has remained a prominent sporting club in the town for the majority of its existence. At Bournemouth Athletic Club we welcome people of all ages and abilities. We are based at the Kings Park Athletic Centre, Bournemouth, and offers training and competition at all levels in Track & Field, Cross-Country and Road Running.

In addition, the club takes part in ‘SportsHall’, which provides fun competition, indoors, for 8 – 14 year old boys and girls.

The club also has close connections with Bournemouth & District Special Olympics.  Special Olympics provides year round opportunities for people with learning disabilities aged 8 upwards to train and compete in sport (not just athletics).

Bournemouth Joggers

We are a ladies-only running club committed to making running and jogging enjoyable for all women.
Currently we have around 60 members varying in age from early 20s to 60+. Our aim is to enjoy jogging together as a group in safety while able to progress in whatever way we like. We also aspire to being the friendliest club in Dorset – with no lady ever running alone and the ideal speed leaves us breath to chat.

Christchurch Runners

We are a small (approx. 40 runners) friendly running club who meet at the East Christchurch Sports and Social Club, BH23 4JD (mostly on Wednesdays – both lunchtime and evening) and also at local parkruns (Bournemouth, Moors Valley, Brockenhurst and Lymington).
Everyone is welcome, no matter what your standard, and all of the club events are designed to give all an equal chance to excel.

Dorchester AC

Dorchester Athletic Club adheres to UK Athletics’ principle of a club for all and welcomes applications for membership from all sections of the community. Anyone wishing to support the club by becoming an assistant coach, official or club helper is also welcome.

Dorset Doddlers Running Club

The Dorset Doddlers Running Club have been running around in circles since 1983. The club was originally formed by a small group of runners who had just completed their first London Marathon and now has well over 100 members drawn from all over the county.

Egdon Heath Harriers

Egdon Heath Harriers is a Running Club based in Dorset, in the South of England.

We have a membership of runners who are primarily from the Dorchester and Weymouth area. We are all ages  and speeds from competitive club runners to social and fun runners. We also have a walking club!
New members are always welcome.

Hamworthy Harriers

The Hamworthy Harriers were established in 1987 and the Harriers philosophy has always been to balance the sport of running with an active social side and a sense of fun.
We are a running club affiliated to Dorset AAA’s and England Athletics, which allows for reduced entry fee to races/events for affiliated members

During the summer we will run on and off road exploring the surrounding countryside making good use of the quiet lanes and footpaths.
PLUS we organise social runs followed by food!

Luckily we have the added bonus of street lights and housing estates in and around Gillingham, this keeps us running throughout the dark evenings. We do advise that members wear reflective clothing.

Race events.

There are many races to join in with throughout the year in neighboring villages/towns and counties. We also take part in the Dorset Road Race League. News of races can be found online and within our newsletter.

Littledown Harriers

Littledown Harriers is a social running club, established in 1990 at the then newly opened Littledown Sports Centre off Castle Lane in Bournemouth. The club started with a small group of enthusiastic runners and now has over 220 members (as of October 2015). We have a mix of competitive runners and runners who join us to get fit and keep fit. We are proud of our reputation as an inclusive local club: We have among us marathon runners, fun runners and first timers – infact runners of all ages and abilities*. The club and its members also support a local, chosen charity each year.

Lytchett Manor Striders

We have several organised runs covering a range of abilities, mainly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and at weekends; come and join us!

Maiden Newton Runners

If you want to join a running club with a difference then Maiden Newton Runners is the one for you, a small friendly club based in the Dorset village of Maiden Newton.
Our weekly club runs take place at 7pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings throughout the year . The Monday night run  is from the Chalk and Cheese in Maiden Newton and is aimed at those who may prefer a more sociable distance and pace.  The Wednesday night run is from a wide variety of locations, usually starting from a pub and is normally around 6 or 7 miles.  This can include off road sections – even when dark – and is not recommended if you have shiny clean trainers!

Poole AC

Poole AC activities include Road Running, Cross Country and Track & Field Leagues. Click on the links to find out more about the club. Better still, come along and join in with our activities. Everyone from 8 upwards is welcome, irrespective of ability. All that is required is enthusiasm – we’ll provide qualified coaches, encouragement and a friendly atmosphere.

Poole Runners

Poole Runners welcomes new members of all abilities, ages, experience and aspirations. From racers to casual and social runners, we have the experience, opportunities and coaches to help you enjoy and get the most from your running.

Purbeck Runners

Purbeck Runners is a growing Running Club, which is now in it’s 6th year.

We are based on the beautiful Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, and many of our runs take in The “World Heritage Coastline”.

We are a very friendly bunch who very much enjoy socialising together and we welcome New Members & visitors to the area! .

Membership is open to all who live, work and visit the Isle of Purbeck.  We welcome runners of all abilities from beginner to marathon runner! It is a great way to make new friends. We meet on Saturday and Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights.

Royal Manor of Portland Running Club

The club was formed by a group of people in 1983 mostly but not all from the Navy and Dave Sanderson was the original chair person.We meet at 6.15 on a Tuesday evening at the YMCA on Reforne, Portland. Our training runs start at 6.30, come rain or shine, and each session lasts between an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes. There is also the opportunity to complete longer training runs on a Sunday morning…ideal for those hoping to complete a longer distance run.

Westbourne RC

Westbourne RC is a friendly running club located in Bournemouth. We’re supported by LV=, but anyone is welcome to join the club. We have our own club championship and we also take part in the Dorset Road Race League.

Throughout the week, we offer club social runs. At the moment, these take place at 5.30pm every Tuesday and Thursday. You don’t have to be a member to join in with these social runs and it’s a great opportunity to come along and meet some new running friends whilst training and improving your fitness at the same time!

Weymouth St Paul’s Harriers & Athletics Club

WSPH and AC is open to anyone aged 8 to 80 who wants to train and take part in competitions.
All coaching is given by fully qualified UKA coaches.

Our training sessions are arranged by age group, and all abilities are welcome!

Wimborne Athletic Club

WIMBORNE ATHLETIC CLUB was established in 1984 and is run to promote and encourage participation in recreational and competitive athletics in Wimborne and the surrounding areas for those aged eight through to adults. Its principal aims are as follows:

To provide a safe and structured training environment to encourage children, teenagers and mature athletes to enjoy the activities and develop their potential.

To organise and run training sessions which enable its members to attain and maintain competitive fitness levels.

Zoom

Zoom Tri Club started in September 2005 and now have more than 150 members. Based in Bournemouth, Dorset we have a regular weekly schedule of a minimum of 6 training sessions, all of which are coached or supervised.

This site a non profit making, non partisan race directory for Race Directors and Race Organisers to put their events on. It’s free to use, the idea is to promote running events in the county or nearby and help anyone get a new race off the ground. Thanks Andy.
